Chapter 1
Part 1: Do It All Services
“Thank you! Call us again anytime!”
Kihyuk took off the hat he’d pulled down, gave a quick bow, and closed the front door.
Jung Kihyuk, a top employee at the Do It All errand service. He’d taken the part-time job after getting out of the military, figuring he’d only stay a little while before going back to college. A year had already passed.
He was called an employee, but he was really just a part-timer. Still, the owner of Do It All treated even part-timers like regular staff, so Kihyuk had ended up staying longer than he’d intended. The decent pay was another reason he kept putting off going back to college.
Kihyuk squeezed himself into the parked company car and scanned his phone screen up and down.
“$25…”
After checking the modest payment, he let out a sigh. It was decent pay for two hours of work, but at this rate, when was he ever going to save any money? He’d been checking his bank balance when a loud noise out of nowhere made him look outside.
With a harsh screech of tires, a flashy Porsche came to a stop. The engine’s roar was as impressive as the car’s looks, and it set his heart racing.
“That’s insane… So damn cool. I wish I had one of those.”
In fact, Kihyuk had started the part-time job because of that car.
Ever since he turned twenty and started college, he’d never been without someone at his side. Everyone except alphas had thrown themselves at him: omegas and betas, men and women alike. All he had to do was pick one of them and have some fun.
But he had never once managed to “date” anyone. People would take an interest in him, come on to him, and have a one-night stand, then lose interest the moment they found out he wasn’t an alpha but a “beta.”
Betas said they’d thought he was an alpha just from looking at him, and omegas said they’d thought he was a recessive alpha because he barely had any scent. Then they pulled away.
Come on, they were the ones who’d gotten the wrong idea!
Actually, he was satisfied with one-night stands. He hadn’t even been thinking of dating anyway. Watching his parents cheat on each other and get divorced when he was in high school, he’d tried not to get hung up on love. They must have gotten married because they liked each other, but they’d both ended up cheating.
Love was such a stupid, pointless thing.
For a beta, Kihyuk was exceptionally good-looking. Glossy dark brown hair, slightly upturned almond-shaped eyes. A straight, high-bridged nose, plump lips like red cherries. He was 6 feet tall and solidly built, his regular workouts giving him muscles that could rival an alpha’s.
On top of that, he was excellent in bed. Even the ones who’d had a one-night stand and taken off had eventually come crying and begging him to “just do it one more time.”
They compared him to Pyongyang-style cold noodles: one taste, and you couldn’t stop craving more.
But they dropped him right away over the single fact that he was a beta, and that wounded his pride.
So he’d come up with a new image for himself: a beta with an alpha’s bank balance. He might never become a rich businessman like an alpha born into money, but a beta with that kind of cash had to be attractive, right?
He pictured himself as “the older guy back on campus with an imported car.” To him, owning one meant being filthy rich. He was still imagining the car and people clinging to his side when the boss at Do It All called, shattering the daydream.
“Yes, Boss. It’s Kihyuk.”
“Hey, Kihyuk. All done for the day?”
“Yes. I was just about to clock out.”
“Yeah? Then don’t clock out yet. Head over to Cheonghyang.”
“Cheonghyang?”
Kihyuk’s eyes lit up. Cheonghyang. The neighborhood where rich alphas lived. The kind of place where you’d look on Apple Market and find luxury designer goods casually listed secondhand. That rich neighborhood where you couldn’t even wander around without a reason.
“This one’s a cleaning job. You can get there by eight, right?”
Kihyuk checked his wristwatch. It was 7 p.m. Still, how was a Korean supposed to work on an empty stomach? He hadn’t had dinner yet, and he considered turning the job down. But one line from the boss made him drive straight to Cheonghyang.
“It’s $100 an hour. I could’ve given it to someone else, but I saved it for you, kid!”
* * *
“Whoa, look how tall that apartment building is.”
Kihyuk looked up at the apartment building, so tall the top seemed out of sight even when he craned his neck. He checked the building and unit number in the text the boss had sent and shook his head.
So this really was a wealthy neighborhood where alphas lived.
Kihyuk pulled his Do It All hat down firmly, entered the access code, went into the apartment complex, and got in the elevator.
The elevator shot up toward the upper floors. He slowly scanned the instructions in the text.
1. If no one answers the doorbell, enter the code and go in.
2. If there is no answer, clean quietly and leave.
3. Leave every object exactly as it is, without turning anything even a degree.
4. Finish cleaning within one hour. You’ll be paid for the full hour even if you finish early.
Password: ****
The requests were pretty unusual. Was this person picky?
There were all kinds of people these days. He looked at the door code written at the end of the text and scratched his cheek. This was Cheonghyang, so it had to be a rich household—was it okay to just write the password out like that? If he’d been a bad guy, he might already have cleaned the place out and run.
That thought lasted only a moment. He cleared his throat a couple of times and pressed the doorbell.
Ding-dong.
The sound of the doorbell filled the silent hallway. There was no sign of anyone inside.
Was no one home?
If no one answers the doorbell, enter the code and go in.
When he pressed the doorbell again and still got no response, he entered the password from the text.
Kihyuk heard the lock and deadbolt click open. He carefully opened the door and stepped inside.
“Excuse me. I’m from Do It All. Whatever you need done, we’ll do it.”
This is insane…
Kihyuk’s eyes went wide. How could a house be this big? He lived in a cramped studio, and the Cheonghyang place was bigger than he’d imagined.
He could probably do forward rolls, backward rolls, and even cartwheels in the living room.
The interior was done in clean black and white, perhaps to the homeowner’s taste. The moment he stepped into the entryway, he saw a large oil painting that looked expensive even at a glance. When he opened the inner door, there was a living room with a black leather sofa. The huge TV rivaled a movie theater screen, and decorative sculptures here and there gave the room a modern feel.
There seemed to be several rooms, but all the doors were shut tight. The kitchen table was spotless too, and there wasn’t a single dish in the sink. It gleamed so much he wondered if anyone in this house even ate.
There wasn’t a speck of dust, which made him wonder if anyone even lived there. Looking around the house with no sign of anything out of place, he checked the boss’s text again. They’d requested a cleaning job in a house this tidy?
Weren’t cleaning jobs usually about clearing out all kinds of trash scattered around in piles? He went back out to the entryway and checked the unit number. The password had been right, so this had to be the house the request had come from.
“Oh…?”
Belatedly, something amiss in the house caught his eye. The only thing out of place in the otherwise immaculate home. One of the two pairs of shoes lay askew in the entryway. He bent down and straightened the shoes. In a house this neat, there was nothing to tidy but the shoes, and that left him feeling odd.
He shrugged once and stepped back into the house, one careful step at a time.
“Hello, is anyone…”
“Hh…!”
In that instant, Kihyuk couldn’t believe his ears. A peculiar breathing sound came from somewhere. His body went rigid at what might have been a faint moan.
Was this a crime scene? A news story suddenly came to mind: a suspect had murdered a worker he’d hired from an errand service. He swallowed dryly. He clenched his fist and looked at his phone screen.
—Hourly rate: $100.
The pet-sitting gig he’d done before coming to Cheonghyang had paid just $25 for two hours. It would take a full day of pet-sitting to earn what this job paid in an hour, and that eased his nerves.
What would a Cheonghyang homeowner have to gain by killing someone? Even if some crazy alpha was in there, Kihyuk was confident he could match him in size.
—If there is no answer, clean quietly and leave.
The second note caught his eye. It was written right there in the instructions! There might not be an answer. That meant the homeowner might be concentrating on something. There might even be a private gym…
He let out a breath, his face relaxing a little. Then he heard it again, coming from the room at the far end of the hallway off the living room.
“Ah…! Nnh!”
Kihyuk’s mind went blank.
“Hh…!”
The room lay deep inside the house, as though at the end of a maze. It was dark; only the living room was lit, and there was no sign of anyone in the vast house.
Kihyuk clenched his fists until his knuckles went white. The newscaster’s report on the murder suspect kept replaying in his head, so vividly he could almost hear it.
Clutching his pounding heart, he turned toward the inner room instead of heading for the front door.
For all he knew, someone might be locked up in there, calling for help. If that was the case, he couldn’t just walk away. As Kihyuk slowly walked toward the dark room in the back, the moans began to come through more and more clearly.
Jaw clenched tight, he flung the door wide open.
“Are you okay?!”
His booming voice rang through not just the room but the entire house. Damp, hot air greeted him. The scene inside was quite something. The only thing visible in the dark room was two naked people tangled together.
There was no kidnapped victim tied up like Kihyuk had imagined, and no criminal who could take him out with a single blow. Instead, the air was stifling and heavy with the heat of their sex.
What… am I even looking at?
Kihyuk sucked in a breath and instinctively clapped a hand over his mouth. Even before he could make sense of what he was seeing, he knew he’d made a terrible mistake.
“Hngh… ah!”
The moment the man underneath met Kihyuk’s eyes, he came, milky white cum splattering all the way up his chest.
Kihyuk found himself staring at the man’s body, captivated by his sleek muscles and graceful contours. Even the semen pooled between his firm pecs was obscenely erotic. He looked like someone straight out of an adult magazine, and Kihyuk couldn’t tear his eyes away. On top of that, the man’s fully hard cock twitched lightly, dripping milky fluid as if to prove he’d felt pleasure.
The man bit his lip, eyes squeezed shut, seemingly still caught in the afterglow. Kihyuk knew he should close the door and leave, or at least try to salvage the situation. Instead, he stood motionless with his hand on the door, as though spellbound by the faintly flushed man.
It was the prettiest body he’d ever seen. Even his face was just Kihyuk’s type. Jung Kihyuk had never felt like this in all his 25 years.
“Shit… What are you looking at? Get lost, will you?”
Kihyuk snapped out of it when the man on top swore at him to get out. Only then did he register the man who’d spoken to him. After the man’s dark-red cock slipped free, the one underneath seemed to come to his senses as well, his expression slowly hardening.
Both of their gazes fell on Kihyuk. Flustered, he bowed to them over and over in apology.
“I-I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to look! There was a weird noise…!”
No one answered.
“Woojin, who is this guy? Did you call someone else besides me?”
The flushed man, the one called Woojin, kept his lips tightly shut. Unable to tell whether the man was angry or flustered, Kihyuk found it even harder to straighten up.
“…I didn’t call him.”
The voice that finally broke the silence was low and languid, pleasant to the ear despite its icy edge. Kihyuk immediately straightened up and covered his eyes.
“I-I’m from Do It All. I’m sorry for intruding! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”
Kihyuk couldn’t stand this. It was the first time he’d ever watched other people have sex in person. He wasn’t into that, and he hadn’t wanted to see this.
He held back a scream and just shouted that he was sorry, then ran straight for the front door and burst out of the house.
