Chapter 16

When Dieren entered his office, neatly arranged books and documents on the table greeted him. “Ugh…” A sigh escaped his lips. Having entrusted authority as head of the family to his uncle while away on the expedition, he now found his workload had doubled. The mess his uncle had made in the meantime was considerable. Quite a bit of money had been siphoned off for minor entertainment expenses or came from questionable sources. Four new books also sat on the desk. Dieren scanned the titles as Wayne, the butler, followed him inside to explain.
