Chapter 30

Around noon, a carriage arrived at Burnett Manor. Decorated in blue, it had been sent by the Spear Duchy. It was the commander of the Knights of Spear who had come to fetch Jisen. Having finished her preparations, Jisen stepped outside, seen off by Susan. The knight commander dropped to one knee before her. “Greetings. I am Grant, commander of the Knights of Spear. I have come to escort Lady Burnett by order of Duke Spear.” Susan’s eyes widened at his formal display of respect. Quite a few servants stood peeking out from behind the manor doors. First came the day the flowers were delivered, and now the knight commander of Spear himself had come in person to fetch Jisen.
